The idea
Making music can begin with a controller someone already knows. JoySynth brings playing, looping, and arranging into one app for Windows and Android, with compatible USB or Bluetooth gamepads and on-screen touch controls.
Interaction design
The right stick plays notes and controls volume; shoulder buttons extend the note range. The left stick blends instruments and bends pitch. Left- and right-handed layouts, key and scale controls, and independent instrument selection make the interface adaptable to different players.
From performance to a track
Playable synths and drums feed a live-looping workflow. Instrument parts, vocals, and compatible audio inputs can be recorded and overdubbed. A track studio supports arranging, duplicating, and trimming clips, with mute and solo controls before WAV or MP3 export.
Engineering focus
This project brings continuous controller input, audio controls, loop recording, and timeline editing into a single user experience. Its portfolio focus is the connection between expressive interaction and a complete creative workflow: a performance can become an arrangement and then an exported audio file.
Try the working software
Free Windows and Android demos are available on itch.io. The demo disables imports and loading saved projects, and adds a repeating watermark to exported audio. The full version removes those restrictions. The product page includes a video demonstration and setup details.
