Watch the full workflow for generating clips from a long-form video.

Step-by-step: create shorts from a long video

  1. 1. Choose the best profile for your content

Select Retro for speech-heavy content like commentary, story games, RPG dialog, or talking-head videos. Select Modern for visual pacing, action moments, and gameplay highlight style content.

  2. 2. Set clip length targets

Enter your Min Length, Target Length, and Max Length. Example: 8 seconds minimum, 13 seconds target, 29 seconds maximum.

  3. 3. Fine-tune cut sensitivity

Use Scene Thresh to control how often the app cuts. Lower values create more cuts. Raise it if your clips feel too fragmented.

  4. 4. Add your long-form video

Drag and drop the file into the app or click Choose File to load your source video.

  5. 5. Pick an export folder

Choose where the generated short clips should be saved so you can upload them to YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, or other platforms.

  6. 6. Click Generate Shorts

Start the export. Check the logs panel for progress, saved file paths, and errors.

Best use case: This workflow is ideal for creators repurposing streams, lets plays, podcasts with video, commentary, tutorials, and gameplay recordings into short-form content.

Why this page format is better for search

This page is built around a clear search intent: people looking for a way to convert long videos into short clips. That means the headline, descriptive copy, FAQs, and related links all support the same topic. Instead of making many nearly identical pages, create multiple pages that each solve a different search intent, such as gameplay clipping, podcast clipping, tutorial clipping, offline clip generation, or Shorts workflow guides.
